Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 90643
Crop icon should be the consistent in all places it appears
Last modified: 2017-05-20 10:55:13 UTC
[dpizzica 6/12/08] I was in the process of retesting issue 26281 and noticed that the icon for the crop tool is not consistent in the 3.0 Beta. In one place it is displayed as a piece of paper with blue scissors, where in others it appears as a white paper with orange scissors. Presenting this as a consistent icon could lessen any potential confusion to users. I will attach a slidshow with three images: 1. Toolbar at the top of the page - blue scissor icon (this icon is present in the "Picture" toolbar that displays when an image is inserted on a slide and that image is selected for editing) 2. "Format" dropdown menu at the top of the page - orange scissor icon 3. Right-click on image menu - Orange scissor icon

Changed to defect. Reassigned.
It might be nice to use a more standard crop icon (like Photoshop, etc). I think the metaphor of scissors (cut) and a page (document) does not translate well. Quick example is attached.

The requested difference of icons is no just an optical but also technical issue! The Scissor-icon in the toolbar will toggle the new Cut-Assisstant while the one in the main menu will open the popup with manual cut-assistant (old behavior)! This is inconsistent and not good for new users who will find different "features" under the same term.
Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
