Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 9346
Hyperlinks won't print as black
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:37:25 UTC
Want hyperlinks blue, except when printing. This is because want to send both a 'live' doc as Word, and a 'printable' doc as Acrobat 3, which I obtain by saving as PostScript. Right now, my PDF files have blue, non-functional, hyperlinks. Have tried Options->Presentation->Print->Quality->Black & White and Options->OpenOffice.org->Print->Convert colors to grayscale. Hyperlinks still print blue.
Stevan, thank you for using and supporting OOo. Try changing the font color to black.
Want hyperlinks to be blue on the screen, but black when printed. Changing the font color will not have this effect.
How about changing the Printer Settings to Black And White? You could also assign a Macro to the Print Event that sets the Link color to Black. Then set the color back to Blue on the Activate event. You would look under Character Styles->Internet Link for the style on hyperlinks. This is not really a DEFECT, I would think of this more as a Feature Request.
The fact that the settings Options->Presentation->Print->Quality->Black & White and Options->OpenOffice.org->Print->Convert colors to grayscale fail to make the printed document black & white or grayscale, respectively, strikes me as a bug. I suppose we could request that Black & White not contain Blue.
Hi StevanWhite, thanks for using and supporting Openoffice... If you select tools->options->OpenOffice.org->Appearance you are able to set custom colors for unvisited und visited links... ==> Set them to black... I hope this helps you... If there's no new comment from you about this problem this Issue will be closed on 10 Sep. 2003... reassigned to mci@openoffice.org
set to WORKSFORME
As I said above, I want the links to be blue on the screen but black when printed. Your suggestion makes them all black. I now have a workaround with OO 1.1. In File->Print->Options, click "Print Black" This works for my purposes, but might not satisfy everybody. Some people might want to print other colors, but want link colors to print as black, but show as a color on-screen. I know of no way of doing this. The commands I mentioned, now in version 1.1 under Tools->Options->Presentation->Print->Quality->Black & White Tools->Options->Presentation->Print->Quality->Grayscale still do not work at all, for links or any other colored text. So this is still a bug.
Hi StevanWhite, I think that's the way StarWrier works with hyperlinks... I set type to enhancement and reassigned the Issue to bh@openoffice.org...
Very well. I've made another report about the bugs I mentioned. Let me sign off by saying that this is a practical problem. The color of links in a document on the screen indicate that they are live...that if you click them, something happens. In the printed document, any former links become dead. Therefore, it may not make sense to distinguish them from text with color. So it makes sense to have a way to set the color of printed links separately from the color of links as displayed on the screen.
