Description micha137 2008-09-11 11:41:21 UTC
videos inserte via "Insert -> Object -> Video" cannot be replayed.
On entering presentation mode and normally advancing to the page containing the
video, they are played once. Progressing and going back again or jumping onto
the page from somewhere else in the presentation does not result in playing the
video again.
That used to be the case in OOO2.4.1

In my opinion short video sequences must be replayable in a presentation. In
2.4.1 this could be done by a jump to the very same page by an interaction with
a textbox "play again" or the like. This is broken now.

While attempting to replicate this bug I believe that it has gotten worse
since the original posting.

In my attempts to replicate this bug, I discovered that importing a .wmv
video repeatedly crashes on a certain presentation.

Both the video and the presentation are attached.

Here are the steps that I took:

1. Open Impress
2. In the presentation wizard, click "Empty Presentation"
3. Click Create.
4. Go to Insert -> Object -> Video
5. Find the provided .wmv file and insert it.
6. Press F5 to begin the presentation.
7. At this point, the program crashed for me.
8. After recovering the document using the recovery tool, all attempts to
open the document cause Impress to crash.

I am pretty sure that these are related, hence I did not file a separate bug.

Works here for me if I use insert/Movie and sound under windows. The extra
window in a running presentation is i93797. Have to try under linux.

I use OOO300_m7, Java 1.6.0_07, JMF 2.1.1 . on Suse 10.3 and cannot reproduce
the problem. Videos are replayed when someone jumps back onto the slide again.
The attached file only plays under windows. Linux does not show it in 2.4.1 or
OOO300_m7.

I was able to replicate the issue of Insert -> Object -> Video on Windows XP.

1) File -> New -> Presentation
2) Press Next
3) Press Next
4) Press Create
5) Insert -> Object -> Video

As a result of putting in an .avi file, a large plug icon labeled "Object 1"
was shown as a place holder. When I attempted to resize the place holder for
Object 1, I found that the display did not refresh over the place where the
original Object 1 icon was. In trying an .mov file, there was a similar
behavior except the plug icon was shortly replaced with a QuickTime icon which
would not allow removal as described above. In trying a .wmv file, the
application would not stop showing the hour-glass "wait" and caused the
application to stop responding. All of the files worked when using Insert ->
Movie and Sound except the .wmv which doesn't seem to be supported from there.
