It would be very useful if we could rotate images like 3D charts.

For example:
Let's say your document is about how the heart works.
2D heart image would be good, but what if you could rotate the heart image (by
clicking on it) and view the heart from a different angel, 

like this

I see this as a very special application, and not specific to the Gallery even
if it sounds useable for many users.

I would change this summary to something like "3D graphics in OOo".

URL provided is not current available (404 error)

Writer is a word processor and you must use Draw app instead. 
You can convert shape into 3D.
