Description tommy27 2008-12-09 19:24:46 UTC
I found this bug.
Follow these steps to reproduce it:

1- open a blank Impress file
2- insert a picture in a slide
3- use the color tool and apply some random changes to that image (modify
gamma, brightness etc. etc.
4- save the file as .ppt
5- close OOo
6- reopen OOo and open the saved .ppt file

You will see that all the color changes to the image has not been saved.
the image will look exactly like it was before editing it.

If you save in .odp the color changes are kept.
it seems it's a problem only if you save as .ppt

this is annoying since many time i have to save presentations in .ppt format
becuase i have to send them to people with MS Office.

image color editing will be lost in conversion.
please, consider this issue to be fixed.

Comment 2 tommy27 2008-12-11 07:13:31 UTC
just wanted to add some info.

the bug is reproducible even on OOo 2.4.2 and Windows XP.

the bug deserve to be fixed since you don't notice that image color settings
have not been saved until you reopen the .ppt file.

more infos

if you save as .pdf the color changes you made are correctly saved.

the issue appears only when saving as .ppt
Comment 5 tommy27 2009-01-11 08:24:07 UTC
the issue about .doc saving gas been closed with a "WONTFIX" decision.

mru said: "This is nor a bug nor a feature...
The only thing which is supported by .doc format is the "Graphic mode"
(Greyscale, Watermark...). Thus, the desired effect cannot be stored in MS's doc
format."

i'm wondering if .ppt saving is affected by the same problem

any news about this issue?

is it an OOo bug or a .ppt file format limitation? (like it was for the .doc
issue)
Comment 7 tommy27 2009-03-03 09:07:40 UTC
just a reminder for this issue...

did you check if the .ppt bug is OOo's fault of .ppt format's fault?

regarding .doc files it was a limitation of that format

did u finally find if this issue is OOo's fault of .ppt format's fault?

it it is like with .doc files you could set it as a WONTFIX issue
Comment 9 tommy27 2010-04-14 21:39:26 UTC
just a reminder.
did u figured out if this annoyance is OpenOffice's or .ppt format's fault?

the "sister" issue ( http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=97564 )
about .doc format was labeled as WONTFIX because it was .doc format's fault
