Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 9790
Table format accept an impossible combination.
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:27:52 UTC
Reduplication Steps: 1.From menu bar, select Insert  table, a dialog loaded. 2.Click on OK and a table with size 5*2 inserted. 3.Select table, click on “Insert” icon (locates in left bar), a “Table format” loaded. 4.Change “Alignment” from Automatic to Manual, “Width” to 30.48cm, “Left” and “Right” to -9999.99cm. Click on “OK”. 5.System accepts this set of inputs and the table with very width columns exceeds the borders of paper size. You canÂ’t even see the borders of column. 6.Click on “Insert” again, change “Width” to 30.47cm, and click on OK. 7.Now you can see the borders of columns. However, it is impossible since you just changed 0.01cm of width. 8.Click on “Insert” again. The data shows “Width” is 30.46cm, “Left” and “Right” are -7.61cm. It is different from what you input. 9.Now try to change the “Left” and “Right” back to -9999.99cm. You will find “Width” changes to 30.48cm automatically. Note: 1.Width of Table = Width of page (15.24cm by default) – Left – Right. 2.The set of inputs of “30.48cm”, “-9999.99cm”, “-9999.99cm” is an impossible combination. However, Writer accepts it.
Reassigned to MRU
MRU->OS: When having a "manually" aligned table, it is possible to set spacing of exorbitant negative spacings when entering by keyboard or with Crsr-Up/Dn.
It's certainly desireable to limit the negative spacing to sensible values. But it doesn't provoke any "real life" problems.
