using IE 5.5, when entering Issue 137, I was unable
to attach the file with Create Attachment until I zipped the file.

WHen attempting to attached the unzipped file, it
seems that about 75% was transferred when the system
failed with "Software Error" on the HTML screen, and
IE hung, and had to be killed off with Ctrl ALt Del.

As this issue could well be a browser bug or dependency, I will need more
information:

-- what was the size of the file you attempted uploading?
-- what file type, etc.
-- version of IE, what SR level on Windows ME

Collab will need to investigate further. I'm not normally running windows
so it's difficult for me to reproduce your environment. Actually, you also
need to let me know which version of IE you're running. Certainly the
failure mode seems "unfriendly" :-)

have you attempted updating to the lastest IE and/or windows ME
service release?
