Description issues@www 2000-10-21 20:04:48 UTC
Hi
I downloaded the tar.gz file, ucompressed it andf ran the setup program as setup
/net targeting /usr/local/openoffice60 as the install directory
I then ran setup as user form this directory under programs
All went well, the I ran soffice from the sym link in /home/me/openoffice60/ and
after a few moments disk activity I end up with Application ErrorAborted message
No Star Office starts at all
I have run versions 4 5 and 5.1 with no probem
I am now running Mandrake 7.1 with the 2.2.16 kernel modded for win4lin
Matrox G400 card and 128Mb RAM with Athalon 500
I didnt really know where to send this as I am not sure which category of error
this falls under. How to get more information on why it is not starting? Is
there some debug option?
Thanks

Phil

You're at the right place, we just prefer "ui" as the component so one of the QA
folks will take a look at this problem first.

The setup /net switch isn't working in version 605.

Hello

I got the same error but here StarOffice5.2 didn't work, too, and always gave
"Failed to load missing components" as message at the same point. Maybe this
is a hint for you.
I'm using the Debian GNU/Linux "woody"(unstable) distribution and running kernel
2.4.0-test10 on a AMD-K6/2 with 128MB. libc is 2.1.96.

bye,

I get the exact same messages that the reporter of bug 92 saw. 92 doesn't seem like a duplicate of this one, but since has it has been marked as such, I'll post comments here. I didn't use the /net switch (and apparently the bug reporter for #92 didn't, either).

Running RH 7.0, with compat-glibc installed, kernel 2.2.16, running build 609.

The setup -net switch isn't working in StarOffice5.2.
I fixed this under RedHat Linux 6.2 with NFS file locking services switched OFF
!!
I didn't test this with 605, but i think this release will also work

With OO 613 for Linux this bug is still valid...
(glibc 2.2, RedHat 7.0, SMP, kernel-2.4.0-test12)

Installing 613 with ./setup -net or ./setup /net to directory
/usr/local/OpenOffice60 as root works. But at the end of the installation when I
have a strong feeling an "Install finished"-dialog should show up, it instead
just ends, and I get the prompt back. No error msg, no nothing.

When I try to run setup as a regular user a dialog comes up that says: "The
installation program cannot find the script file in which all of the
instructions required for installation have been saved.
The file was looked for in the following directory.
/usr/local/OpenOffice60/program/setup.ins
The installation program cannot be executed without this file, it will now be
terminated."

And of course the setup.ins file isn't there.
If I run soffice directly as a regular user it only says "Aborted" at the
prompt.

Is this bug being looked into or is multiuser support in Linux being put aside
for the moment?
Any answers would be appreciated.
( BTW I filed this bugged originally as Issue 92 once )

If you need anymore info don't hesitate to ask!

/Richard

Now, in OO614, the switch '-net' is working.
