Description ooo 2000-10-24 15:53:52 UTC
If I want to assign an issue to a particular person I have to know the exact
eMail address of that person. It would be very helpful if there was a list box
containing eMail and real name entries from which to chose of, especially as
eMail addresses may change for any reason, furthermore most Sunnies seem to keep
their incredible long address I don't like to type everytime..

I agree that this is a nice to have enhancement to existing
IssueZilla functionality. And I too have wished for this feature.

However, I have "made do" with the the user search feature
of IssueZilla to find user's exact email address:
	http://www.openoffice.org/issues/editusers.cgi
I then cut/paste the address into the appropriate owner/cc/qa box.

It is unlikely we will spend significant time updating
"nice to haves" in IssueZilla because we're developing
an improved issue-tracker, Scarab, to replace IssueZilla. The
only reason we deployed IssueZilla at all is because Scarab is
not ready yet. (See scarab.tigris.org).

I'm recategorizing this as an "enhancement" rather than a
new "feature" since it's just a UI modification to
existing email-entry "widgets" rather than a new feature.

I'm resolving this as "LATER" because it probably won't be
resolved until Scarab is deployed. I consider the issue
mostly resolved (or at least not a showstopper)
because you still can use
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/editusers.cgi
to search for registered user names and then just paste those
names into the to: or cc: field in issuezilla.

If the above process doesn't work for you, feel free to reopen this
request.

will resolve the issue.

Update: After the next upgrade you should only have to enter the
username of the person to be assigned to the issue instead of the
entire email address. There should also be a link called "lookup
users" which will list usernames under 2 tabs "assignable users" and
"project members".
Action Plan: Let's take a look at this and confirm during the staging
process for the next upgrade.
Thanks,
Kristen

The Issue you raised has been marked as 'Resolved' and not updated within the
last 1 year+. I am therefore setting this issue to 'Verified' as the first step
towards Closing it. If you feel this is incorrect, please re-open the issue and
add any comments.

Many thanks,
Andrew
